Hospital of the Army of the Ohio
Hospital Rules - Regulation AoO 01.002
The hospital is for officers who are not present for duty.  Officers may be admitted to the hospital either voluntarily or involuntarily by failing to report for two consecutive roll calls or two out of any three consecutive roll calls.  Patients admitted to the hospital will retain previously earned rank, commendations and points.  However, patients may not receive any awards, commendations, or discretionary OBD points while hospitalized.

Patients may remain in the hospital up to 6 months.  Officers who have voluntarily been admitted to the hospital may request an extended period of convalescence.  Officers involuntarily admitted may not request an extended period of convalescence.

Officers who have been involuntarily admitted must be discharged within 6 months of admission.  It will be presumed that involuntarily admitted officers have expired if they are not discharged within six months of admission. After 6 months, the deceased officer will be buried, his or her name will be stricken from the rolls of the Army, and all points as well as rank will be forfeited.

Any patient, before their demise, may be discharged from the hospital by requesting an assignment.  When such a request is made, the patient will be reassigned but not necessarily to the same command or even the same level of command formerly held.  Upon discharge the officer will not be penalized either in rank or in points for being hospitalized.
